Campos Eliseos theatre of Bilbao is the best example of Art Nouveau architecture in the Basque Country.
Two architects, Jean Batiste Darroquy and Alfredo Acebal, built it at the beginning of the 20th century.
Jean Batiste Darroquy was responsible, among other things, for the main façade's decoration. A big horseshoe arch welcomes the public. Moreover, the arch presents a rich decoration, with plant, animal and fantasy motifs.
It was originally inaugurated in 1902 and, following almost 20 years of inactivity, it reopened its doors in March 2010, following significant reform. This centre is divided into seven storeys, boasting a surface area of more than 7000 square meters.
